Modern illustrators need digital equipment
When I was just starting out, only a small number of illustrators owned a computer.
A landline telephone and fax machine were essential, but mobile phones had not yet become widespread.
Times, however, have changed dramatically.
For today’s illustrators, digital equipment—starting with a computer—is essential.
A smartphone is also indispensable.
On the other hand, landline telephones and fax machines are no longer necessary.
I believe that, as illustrators, it is also important for us to keep updating our equipment in line with the times.
This time, let’s learn about the digital equipment that modern illustrators should have.
Digital equipment you should prepare
1) Computer
Above all, a computer is essential.
With the exception of some older veteran illustrators, there are almost no professional illustrators who continue to work regularly without a computer.
Even if you create your artwork with traditional materials, it is now standard practice to digitize the artwork and deliver it via the Internet.
You need a computer when digitizing and delivering your work.
Communication is mainly done by email.
You can use email on a smartphone, but it is still better to have a computer as well.
